Punked Out

Filmmaker and Photgrapher Niall O'Brien is making his debut in February with an exhibition at Art Work Space - a new independent gallery, recently launched in The Hempel Hotel, London. Entitled ‘Good Rats', the Project is from the ‘Superheroes’ series – an ongoing project that has seen O’Brien living alongside, and observing the lives of a group of young punks living in South-West London for the last three years.

This year’s festival spans a whole month rather than a weekend and expands from last year’s music-based event to include film, food and festive shopping!

The unique festival will provide the perfect opportunity to buy loved-ones an unusual, quirky or one-of-a-kind gift. So whether you’re looking for cutting edge accessories by hot designers; artisan foods; distinctive designs; handmade, recycled gifts or a rare, vintage bag,!

  you’ll find these and plenty more sought-after items that just can’t be found on the high street. What’s more, the independent retailers will be giving discounts and plenty of special offers throughout the festival dates.

Plus, Mutate Britain, the hugely popular interactive street art exhibition returns to its location under the Westway, on the corner of Acklam and Portobello Roads, from Friday 4 December until Sunday 6 December.

Mutate Britain are taking over one of the UK's most famous graffiti hotspots, which is located under the Westway, not far from the junctions with Portobello Road. Portobello Film Festival 3rd-20th September 2009

For those that did not know the Portobello Film Festival kicked off on the 3rd September. The festival is showing 700 new films at four different locations in and around Notting Hill. The event is billed as credit crunch friendly by offering FREE admission to all of it's screenings over the full 17 day period. Films are said to be "Cutting Edge" made by the modern masters, of the medium, unimpressed by bling, spin and celebrity culture these guys have gone out and made their own films, often on shoe-string budgets for the sheer thrill of it. This will be the 14th Portobello Film Festival Event.
