Julia Roberts


Julia Roberts connection with the area Notting Hill is well known for her time spent making the now well known movie, Notting Hill. Julia Roberts was born on October the 28th, 1967 and is an American actress and former well publicised and successful fashion model. She became particularly well known in the early 1990s when she took the starring role in the hit romantic comedy film, Pretty Woman. Richard Gere starred alongside her and the film itself took over £220 million worldwide.

After receiving Oscar nominations for Steel Magnolias in 1990 and Pretty Woman in 1991, Julia Roberts was subsequently honored in 2001 with and Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in the movie Erin Brockovich.

Her films, which also include romantic comedies such as My Best Friend's Wedding, Mystic Pizza, Notting Hill, Runaway Bride, and crime films such as The Pelican Brief and Ocean's Eleven, have collectively earned box office receipts of over £1 billion, making her the most successful actress in monetary box office takings.

More recently, in 2006, Julia Roberts's was involved in making of two films (providing the voices), namely The Ant Bully and Charlotte's Web. Shortly followed was Charlie Wilson's War, which also starred Tom Hanks and Philip Seymour Hoffman, a film which was based on the book by former CBS journalist George Crile, released in 2007. Fireflies in the Garden, with Ryan Reynolds and Willem Dafoe is currently in post-production, with release set for 2009. It has also been announced that Julia Roberts will star in The Friday Night Knitting Club, based on the novel of the same name by Kate Jacobs with Emma Roberts who is to be considered for the daughter role.

The Julia Roberts story can brought up to date in 2009 with the release of the latest film she is starring in called Duplicity. Duplicity is a movie that is designed get the old grey matter sparking, and it is currently enjoying many a good reviews.
