Australian born, Elle Macpherson was just 17 when she was first signed to Click Model Management. Her modelling carrier soon took off after making many apperances in Elle Magazine (almost every issue for nearly 6 years). Her exposure was increased further through Sports Illustrated magazine’s annual swimsuit issue, in which she graced the cover 5 year's running. Rising in popularity with her exceptional body measurements (36-25-35) she gained her nickname and brand "The Body". She also released a series of successful calendars and modeled for Victoria's Secret, a large lingerie reatalier.
During late the late eighties, her popularity had increased sufficiently for Time magazine to run a cover entitled “The Big Elle”. The Australian government also offered her a post on the tourist commission as an unofficial ambassador.
Macpherson's movie debut was playing an artist's model in the 1994 Sirens movie, which starred Hugh Grant, Sam Neill, Tara Fitzgerald, Kate Fischer and co-starred Portia de Rossi (also playing a model). She surprised many of her fans and critics by appearing in many scenes of nudity (all of the female actresses in the movie appeared nude significanlty boosting revenues).
Macpherson also went on to film Batman & Robin (George Clooney), Jane Eyre with William Hurt and also worked with Ben Stiller and Sarah Jessica Parker in, If Lucy Fell. Her most controversial acting to date is the Showtime Cable Network miniseries A Girl Thingm where she plays a womanwho is experimenting with bi-sexuality. Macpherson appears in several nude love scenes with the co-starring actress Kate Capshaw.
Elle MacphersonN currently lives in Notting Hill, but is thought to be considering moving back to Austraila.
