Asher Roth, the 23 year old American white rapper from Pennsylvania, is coming to the UK and playing at the Tabernacle in Notting Hill, London - his debut show on the 7th May 2009. The rapper is currently signed to a joint venture between Steve Rifkind’s SRC Records and Scooter Braun's Schoolboy Music. He has been featured on the cover of XXL magazine’s annual Top 10 Freshmen: Hip-Hop’s Class ’09 issue.
Asher Roth's first professional music release was on June 13, 2008 when DJ Drama and Don Cannon's The Greenhouse Effect mixtape was released for free via Roth’s website Thedailykush.com. Asher Roth's debut album, Asleep in the Bread Aisle, was released April 20th 2009 and his frat boy hit I Love College still get's widely played out.
Asher Roth is a relative latecomer to rap, discovered by Braun on MySpace in 2006, however he is already making large waves in the industry and some, allbeit small comprisons are already being made to the great Eminem (see video opposite). It would be fair to say that at present Asher Roth is the rap world’s most buzz-worthy new artist, so get yourself down to the Tabernacle to check him out.
